The Context
Fundación Ciudadano Inteligente (FCI, translates to Smart Citizen Foundation) is a non-profit organization based in Santiago, Chile. The organization creates web technologies as a key tool for gathering, organizing, illustrating and sharing information through the web, working to promote informed citizen actions and government accountability.
Partidos Públicos is one of FCI’s projects that aims to provide citizens access to information about political parties in Chile, through comprehensive and interactive visualizations.
The Brief
Goals from the brief were:
- Outreach to a wider audience and raise awareness of the transparency of political parties and how data available in Partidos Públicos can help in the creation of new content.
- To share insights and stories on their social media and blogs, and other media outlets, in order to reach out to a wider audience and raise citizens’ awareness of the transparency of the political parties.
- Cultivate relationships with cutting-edge data scientists, designers and journalists in Chile
Our Approach
Data Campfire worked with FCI to engage the community of data scientists, designers and journalists in Santiago. We designed the event experience from the start to finish including:
- creating the event landing page
- handling the application process of applicants
- sourcing of sponsorship and suppliers
- facilitating activities during the 2-day event
- engaging with the media
- social media marketing pre/post event and during the event
The Results
The 2-day event was a success, with over 50 attendees and 7 teams formed. The high-energy event was covered by the press with El Mercurio and T13. FCI was very happy that we had exceeded our goals.
